How to choose a soft serve machine

01

Estimate your peak hour

Work out how many cones or cups you sell in your busiest hour. Each machine is rated in servings per hour, so this sets the size.

02

Single flavour or twin-twist

A single-flavour machine suits one signature product. Twin-twist gives two flavours plus a twist, or soft serve and frozen yoghurt side by side.

03

Countertop or floor-standing

Countertop models save floor space; floor-standing models hold more mix and suit high-volume service.

04

Gravity or pump feed

Gravity feed is simple and easy to clean. Pump feed gives higher, adjustable overrun for a lighter, creamier texture and better yield.

05

Cleaning and heat treatment

Machines with heat treatment or self-pasteurisation can run longer between full strip-down cleans. Ask us which suits your hours.

06

Power and cooling

Check your power supply, as some larger machines need three-phase power, and choose air or water cooling to suit the site.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between single flavour and twin-twist soft serve machines? +

A single-flavour machine has one freezing cylinder and serves one product. A twin-twist machine has two cylinders, so you can serve two flavours and a twist of both, or run soft serve and frozen yoghurt at the same time.

Gravity feed or pump feed: which is better? +

Gravity-fed machines are simple and quick to clean. Pump-fed machines push air into the mix for a higher, adjustable overrun, which gives a lighter texture and more servings from each litre of mix.

Can I make frozen yoghurt and açaí in a soft serve machine? +

Yes. Most of our soft serve machines handle soft serve, frozen yoghurt and sorbet mixes, and the Gelmatic Easy range is also set up for açaí. Tell us what you plan to serve and we will match the machine.

Can I see a soft serve machine working before I buy? +

Yes. We offer free showroom demonstrations with our Auckland and Christchurch teams. Send us an enquiry or call 0508 625 677 to book.

Can I finance a soft serve machine? +

Yes. We work with New Zealand finance partners, and finance is available for up to 100% of a new asset’s purchase price. See finance options.
