A blast freezer brings fresh gelato, cakes and prepared food down to temperature fast, so small ice crystals form and texture is protected. We supply the Techfrost range, from compact three-tray units for small kitchens to roll-in models that take up to six trolleys.

How to choose a blast freezer
Count your trays
Work out how many trays or gelato pans you need to freeze at once at your busiest time.
Match the tray format
Kitchens often use Gastronorm (GN) trays; pastry and gelato labs often use EN 600×400 or 600×800. Pick a model that takes yours.
Chill, freeze or both
Many models blast chill and blast freeze, which suits kitchens that cook as well as freeze.
Reach-in or roll-in
Reach-in models suit most shops; trolley and roll-in models suit central production.
Space and airflow
Check the room, door access and ventilation for the unit and its refrigeration.

What is the difference between a blast chiller and a blast freezer? +
A blast chiller cools cooked food quickly to chilled temperature; a blast freezer takes products down to frozen. Many Techfrost models, such as the E series, do both.
Why does gelato need a blast freezer? +
Freshly made gelato is soft. Freezing it quickly forms small ice crystals, which protects texture for storage, cakes and sticks.
Which trays do the blast freezers take? +
It depends on the model: GN 1/1, GN 2/1 or GN 2/3, and EN 600×400 or 600×800 for pastry and gelato. Check each product page or ask us.
Do you install blast freezers? +
Yes. We deliver, install and service blast freezers New Zealand-wide from our Auckland and Christchurch teams.
Can I finance a blast freezer? +
Yes. We work with New Zealand finance partners, and finance is available for up to 100% of a new asset’s purchase price. See finance options.
