Poland was the next European stop of the 2023 Gelato Festival World Masters season, the travelling competition in search of the best gelato flavours in the world. On 28 March, 15 gelato artisans were set to compete in Łódź for a place in the national finals in 2025.

How the challenge worked

The Gelato Festival World Masters Challenge was organised by Gelato Festival with Sigep (Italian Exhibition Group). Competitors prepared their gelato in a kitchen provided by the organisers, then industry experts, local chefs and food journalists tasted and judged each entry. The three top flavours advanced to the Polish Finals of the Gelato Festival World Masters in 2025.

Thirteen years of Gelato Festival

The 2022-2025 edition is the thirteenth year of the event. It debuted in Florence in 2010 as “Gelato Festival”, a local competition inspired by Bernardo Buontalenti’s first gelato recipe in 1559. It then spread across Italy and Europe, reached the United States in 2017 and became a world championship. The 2017-2021 edition involved more than 3,500 gelato makers and was won by Adam Fazekas of Budapest.
