Two London gelato artisans will carry the UK’s colours to the Gelato Festival World Masters World Finals. They won the UK final, held in Italy on 6 July, against four other leading UK shops.
The jury and the winners
Six shops were assessed live online by a technical jury of Antonio Mezzalira (owner of Golosi di Natura in Gazzo Padovano), Cinzia Otri (owner of Gelateria della Passera in Florence) and Enzo Coppetti (member of the Gelato World Cup organising committee).
The two who will represent the UK at the World Finals in Italy in December 2021 are:
- Taseer Ahmad, Fabulous Ice Fires, London: “Wild Cherry”

- Fabiano Franzoso, Cremoloso Gelato, London: “Salted Amaretto”

About the competition
The event is run with Carpigiani Gelato University, which has 20 campuses in 19 countries, and Sigep, the world’s leading artisan gelato trade show, organised by Italian Exhibition Group. In Italy, the second semi-final (76 artisans) was set for September 2021, the Italian Final (16 participants) for October, and the World Finals for December. The Gelato Festival debuted in Florence in 2010, inspired by Bernardo Buontalenti’s 1559 recipe, and has staged 64 festivals across Italy, Europe and the United States.
