A battery powered soft serve machine in your ice cream van. The Majors Group battery system runs the soft serve machine, freezers and fridges in the van, so you serve with the engine switched off and no generator on board.
Most soft serve vans make ice cream by keeping the engine running or towing a generator. That means noise, fumes and fuel at the serving window. With a battery system the van is quiet and clean while you serve, and you recharge by plugging in overnight.
Charge at home at night, trade off-grid all day
Park the van at home and plug it in. It recharges overnight, when power is at its cheapest off-peak rate. In the morning you unplug and drive.
From then on the van is off the grid. The soft serve machine, freezers and fridges run from the battery all day, with no power lead, no site power and no generator. We size the battery so that one overnight charge covers your trading day.
What it runs in the van
- Soft serve, frozen yoghurt and shake machines, single-phase or three-phase
- Freezers, fridges and topping counters
- Slush and coffee machines
- POS, lighting and signage
Why operators switch to battery power
- Engine off. The machines run from the battery, not from the engine or a generator.
- No noise. Customers hear you, not a motor. Suits events, markets, weddings and quiet streets.
- No fumes. No exhaust beside the food and the queue.
- No fuel bill for serving. Recharge from a power point overnight, at off-peak rates where you have them. Solar and generator charging are supported too.
- Wi-Fi monitoring. See charge level and alerts from your phone.
- Safe LiFePO4 batteries. Battery management system and built-in fire suppression.
- Built to fit. One enclosure, engineered to your van and the machines it carries. It can be fitted to a new van or an existing one.
How it works
Your machines do not change. The battery system gives them the same power as a wall socket.
- The battery stores the power. It is lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4), a very safe battery type.
- The inverter turns battery power into normal mains power, single-phase or three-phase, so the soft serve machine plugs in as usual.
- Charging is from a power point, solar panels or a generator. Most operators plug in overnight.
- Monitoring is over Wi-Fi. Your phone shows how much charge is left.
Four capacities
We size the battery to your machines and your trading day.
| Storage | Usable at 80% depth of discharge | Inverter options | Enclosure (L x W x H) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 16 kWh | 12.8 kWh | 8 or 10 kW single-phase | 1000 x 600 x 580 mm |
| 32 kWh | 25.6 kWh | 8, 10 or 16 kW single-phase, or 12 kW three-phase | 1000 x 600 x 580 mm |
| 48 kWh | 38.4 kWh | 8, 10 or 16 kW single-phase, or 12 kW three-phase | 1350 x 780 x 680 mm |
| 64 kWh | 51.2 kWh | 10 or 16 kW single-phase, or 12 kW three-phase | 1350 x 780 x 790 mm |

Questions van owners ask
What is a battery powered ice cream van?
An ice cream van where the soft serve machine, freezers and fridges run from a battery instead of the engine or a generator. You serve with the engine off.
Where do I charge it?
At home or at your depot, from a normal grid connection. Most owners plug in at night, when power is cheapest, and unplug in the morning.
Will it last a full day?
That is what we size it for. There are four capacities from 16 to 64 kWh, and we match the battery to your machines and trading hours. Solar panels or a generator can top it up.
Can it run a three-phase soft serve machine?
Yes. Three-phase output is available from 32 kWh. Single-phase is available across the range.
What warranty does it come with?
A 10-year warranty.
Can it be installed outdoors?
Yes. It can be installed indoors or outdoors.
Can you design a system for my business?
Yes. Whatever your requirements are, talk to us. We custom design battery systems.
Who supports it after I buy?
Our remote support team. They can see your system online and help you after the sale.
Are the batteries recyclable?
Yes. The batteries can be recycled at the end of their life.
