A new season of gelato competitions kicked off with the announcement of the first stops on the 2022-2025 Gelato Festival World Masters tour: Budapest on 18 October and Hannover on 9 November.

How the tour works

The events are organised by Gelato Festival, with Carpigiani Gelato University and Sigep – Italian Exhibition Group as strategic partners. Each is a one-day competition that selects the gelato makers who move on to the next stage of a world championship searching for the best gelato makers on all five continents. The programme of European events through to January 2023 was published online.

How to take part

Entering is simple. Contestants pick their competition flavour and register through the event’s local organiser. On the day, they make their gelato in a laboratory provided by the organisers, and in the afternoon a jury of food professionals, journalists and chefs judges the flavours. A regularly updated calendar of competitions is available on the Gelato Festival website.
