Seventeen Hungarian gelato makers competed in Budapest on 18 October 2022. The top three qualified for the Hungarian finals in 2024.

Carpigiani sponsored the first Défi des Glaciers at the 27th Salon du Chocolat in Paris, where the best ice cream or sorbet of 2022 was chosen and profits supported sick children.

On 18 October 2022 Budapest hosted the first European stop of the new Gelato Festival World Masters season, with 18 gelato artisans competing.
